The club would like to thank all the Golfers who took part in the Annual Club Golf Classic in Ballinamore on Saturday last and the lovely ladies who made the delicious food and the committee who organized the event. Looking forward to next year already. The club have a new range of club gear which you can see on our Facebook page, Swanlinbar play Butlersbridge in an Intermediate Relegation Game in Ballyconnell on Sunday at 1pm.

  • Public Meeting for Tidy Towns Group: A public meeting will take place in Trivia House on Tuesday 23 September at 9pm to set up a Tidy Towns group in Swanlinbar. Some funding is available from Cavan County Council. Anyone with an interest in improving the appearance of the town or would like to help please attend.

  • Set Dancing Classes will commence in the Day Centre starting Wednesday 17th September 2014 at 8.00 pm. All Welcome. Swanlinbar CCE Music classes resume on Thursday 11th September from 5.30 to 8pm in Trivia House.  Individual tutors to cover a range of instruments - Button Accordion ( Michael Curran), Banjo (Eoghan Maguire), Whistle & Flute (Leanne Drumm), Guitar & Groupa Ceoil (Pat McCabe), Fiddle (Dankea Power), Drums (Paul Melanophy), Bodhran (Damien McKenna). Adults are welcome to join our adult classes.Swanlinbar CCE will host a Hog Roast evening & Traditional Music Seisiun on Saturday 27th September @ Trivia House from7pm onwards as part of their launch as hosts of the Cavan County Fleadh on the June Bank Holiday Weekend in 2015. Tickets only €5.  Contact  Iona/Leanne/Patsy for tickets. All support appreciated!!!

  • Swanlinbar Day Care Centre: open every Friday from 11am to 4pm. New members always welcome.Chiropodist Carmel Doonan in the centre Fri 26th Sept 11am to 1pm.

  • Corlough Group Water Scheme: CGWS sent out letters to all members last week explaining what each member should do when they receive information from Irish Water. It explains in bold what you should do to prevent you from receiving bills from Irish Water. Very important to complete details required & return it as soon as possible.

  • Parish Counters: If you are on the rota for counting the envelopes and unavailable, can you please contact the parish office in advance or organise a substitute. Thank you

  • St Aidan's PTFA: Due to Derrylin Parish Mission this coming week, Ladies Night will now be held on Tuesday 23th September at 8pm.

  • A Novena to Our Lady, Untier of Knots will begin on Saturday evening next (20 September 2014) in the Cathedral of SS. Patrick & Felim, Cavan at the 7:30p.m. Mass and continue with special devotions each evening until Sunday 28 September 2014.  There will be a guest speaker on each night.

  • Congratulations to Fermanagh Ladies on reaching the All Ireland final against Down in the final on Sun 28th Sept. Well done to our local club players, Áine McHugh, Joanne Doonan, Danielle Maguire, Roisín Reilly, Rian Gallagher and Tamara Dolan. To support this major achievement there will be a church gate collection next Sat 20th and Sunday 21st September.  Kinawley GFC are looking into organising a bus to the final depending on numbers. If anyone is interested in getting a bus please give their name to Leanne McDermott (07814097766) before Friday 19th. All U18's must be supervised by an adult."   • Swanlinbar 3G Pitch: Bookings are now being taking for September. Pitch available Monday to Friday from 6pm to 10pm. Please call 087 3960079 from 9am to 5pm to book. €25 per hour for block bookings. Soccer League will run from October to February. Panel of 7 Players. Limit of 8 teams per league.


  • NEW GUIDELINES REGARDING BAPTISM: From September 2014 on, baptisms will take place at scheduled times in the parish. They will take place on Sundays at 1.30pm sharp.St. Mary’s Church, Swanlinbar: 2nd Sunday of the month.St. Naile’s Church, Kinawley: 3rd Sunday of the month.St. Patrick’s Church, Killesher: 4th Sunday of the month.All baptisms must be booked a month in advance with the parish secretaries. For a Swanlinbar baptism, please contact Bernie each Tuesday on 0499521221 (10am-1pm) For a Kinawley/Killesher baptism, please contact Helen each Wednesday on 02866348250 (2.30-5.30pm) As there may be one or more children for baptism, in fairness to the officiating priest and also other parents, please make sure that everyone is there at 1.20pm, so as to be able to start sharp on time at 1.30pm. The Baptismal course which takes place on the Wednesday after the first Sunday is compulsory for all. The dates of the courses are published in the weekly newsletter and also on the parish website. Even if parents have done the course for their first child, the parents or someone from the family is expected to do it for subsequent children – e.g. godparernts or other family members. This is the policy worked out in conjunction with neighbouring priests. Please let others know. Next dates from September on for baptisms in the parish:Swanlinbar: 14th September 2014 – 1.30pm sharp, Kinawley: 21st September 2014 – 1.30pm sharp, Killesher: 28th September 2014 – 1.30pm sharp

  • Knockninny Parish Mission: Takes place in the Churches of Teemore and Derrylin, Co Fermanagh. Beginning Sunday 14th at 7.30 pm and closing on Friday 19th September at 7.30 pm. The theme of the mission is: Rekindling Hope and Healing. The mission includes morning mass at 7.00am and 10.00 am daily and a special mission liturgy at 7.30pm every evening and focuses on different themes each evening.

 

  • Annual Apostolic Collection: Will take place at 10.30am Mass on Sunday 21 September in St Mary's Church, Swanlinbar & on the weekend of Sat 27th/Sunday 28th September in Killesher, Kinawley & Wheathill.

  • Divine Mercy Devotions: resume this Monday 15th Sept after the 7pm Mass.

  • Swanlinbar Finance Committee: Meeting on Tuesday 16th September at 8pm in Fr. Kelly’s House. Kinawley Finance Committee: Meeting on Tuesday 23rd September at 8pm in Fr. Kelly’s house. Pastoral Council meeting at 9pm in Kinawley Community Centre. Killesher Finance Committee: Meeting on Tuesday 30th September at 8pm in Father Kelly’s house.
