Kilmore Diocesan Assembly: Walking Together; Building the Kingdom; Professing Our Faith takes place on 25 - 26 October in St Patrick’s College, Cavan. Over 300 delegates from all over the diocese will come together to discuss how the diocese should proceed over the next number of years. Areas to be addressed will be: ministry to those who are on the margins of Church life; ministry to young people, and sacramental practice today. All this will be discussed in the light of an ever decreasing and ageing number of clergy. Please pray for the Assembly by using the special prayer cards which have been distributed in your parishes.

It explains in bold what you should do to avoid bills from Irish Water. It is very important to complete details required and return it as soon as possible

Mission Month: ‘The Society for the Propagation of the Faith’ organises the Mission Sunday collection in all Churches nationwide, which this year takes place on the 19th October. We are invited to reflect on our call to bring Christ to others, while remembering to pray and to assist the young churches that they may have the spiritual and financial resources to grow and in turn announce the Good News.

Cill Naile G.F.C.: Anybody owing money for All-Ireland Football tickets is asked to get the money to Hugh Owens this week. Hard luck to the Fermanagh Ladies, especially our Club Players, who lost to a strong Down team in the Intermediate All-Ireland Final on Sunday. This year marks the 1000th anniversary of the death of Brian Boru. The Club will celebrate our association with Brian Boru on Sat, 8th Nov, so keep that date free. More details of the celebration will published shortly. The murals at the entrance to the pitch are almost complete, with one depicting the life of Brian Boru, and the other depicting the life of our club.

NEW GUIDELINES REGARDING BAPTISM: From September 2014 on, baptisms will take place at scheduled times in the parish. They will take place on Sundays at 1.30pm sharp.St. Mary’s Church, Swanlinbar: 2nd Sunday of the month.St. Naile’s Church, Kinawley: 3rd Sunday of the month.St. Patrick’s Church, Killesher: 4th Sunday of the month.All baptisms must be booked a month in advance with the parish secretaries. For a Swanlinbar baptism, please contact Bernie each Tuesday on 0499521221 (10am-1pm) For a Kinawley/Killesher baptism, please contact Helen each Wednesday on 02866348250 (2.30-5.30pm) As there may be one or more children for baptism, in fairness to the officiating priest and also other parents, please make sure that everyone is there at 1.20pm, so as to be able to start sharp on time at 1.30pm. The Baptismal course which takes place on the Wednesday after the first Sunday is compulsory for all. The dates of the courses are published in the weekly newsletter and also on the parish website. Even if parents have done the course for their first child, the parents or someone from the family is expected to do it for subsequent children – e.g. godparernts or other family members. This is the policy worked out in conjunction with neighbouring priests. Please let others know.
